It is very important for us to know the size and fragility of the cells. During sorting, the cells pass through a narrow orifice at high pressures.

The larger cells require a larger hole and it is possible that particularly fragile cells will not withstand the higher pressures.

Orifice size and pressure are extraordinarily important in determining cell sorting rate and therefore the duration of the process.

As a general rule: the larger and more fragile the cell, the slower the sorting rate.
